What is the difference between organic food and conventional food? Is organic really more healthy for you?

The USDA lays out certain guidelines that farms have to follow in…

All you organic food lemmings just keep on eating your ‘organically grown’ overpriced Chiquita bananas and pretending that it different from other bananas that are mass-produced. Meanwhile, Chiquita is laughing all the way to the bank. Lesson learned: if you want organically grown food, move out of your suburban neighborhoods with your nice bicycle paths and into the country and by a freaking farm.

The population of invasive species is going down, who told you the opposite??(Let’s see if I can do this like Lamdumbaralcho)uh — I was playing in my yard and noticed some invasive species. Those things can harm your garden and that can be annoying. Annoying invasive species need to be dealt with using strict measures. There are many. Find some.I hope my statement proved why invasive species is not really increasing in population.

lamgandhimbaralcho, you are probably right. So I guess I like the way things are today, because I’m eating organic and I have found no problem getting them. Maybe it’s because that depends on most people obeying at eating conventionally. Sounds good. Everything in it for me. I don’t crusade or recruit. Also I was hoping that your statement “Cancer rates are going down” would be followed by, “here are the official statistics from college A,” — oh well. Typical.

To eric24941983:About doing some “nonbiased research”. If you look hard enough, especially on the internet of all places, you’ll find what you want to hear. Maybe I am no different. Its my opinion/belief that organic is the healthiest way to go, and I’m willing to shell out the many extra dollars to try to ensure that I do as little damage to my body as possible.

I once read (paraphrase):Centuries ago, the biggest threat to mankind’s dominance on this planet were infections/viruses. Now, it appears that artifical chemicals have taken that role.Although I don’t drink liquid, I like to say: “Who makes the best drink for you? Which company? What corporation?”. The answer is water, from the earth alone.

Sometimes, I think, perhaps people make things far more complex than they need to be. When it comes to health, I prefer to put my trust in nature. I nature, there are no pesticides. Pesticides are a man made chemical, and I sincerely feel that man made chemicals pose just as much, if not more of a threat to us than anything found in nature. Especially pesticides. Just because you may not taste them, or see them, does not mean they aren’t there, in the very structure of the food itself.

you have no idea what you’re talking about. do some none biased research before you make such bold accusations

I feel that the aggregate chemical toxicity from food is what leads or at leasts contributes to alot of illnesses that weren’t so prevelant years ago, like cancer. Pesticides are horrible. They are completely anti-life, as they kill bugs. When people have their homes fumigated, they leave for at least several hours because of the sheer danger of breathing thenm. I ask you then, why should it be acceptable to eat these chemicals?

cancer rates are going down. who told you the opposite?people are spraying that shit for a reason. to increase the yield, to prevent insects and plants from ruining crops, and to prevent invasive species from overpopulating. I dont like the idea of killing and creating dead zones in seas, but we wouldnt be able to feed everyone with organic. so pick your choice. in india’s organic cotton fields 2/3 of fields are ruined if they dont spray anything.and there is a shortage of organic food.

Its not just about vitamins and minerals (nutrition). Its also about what I feel to be a far more sinister threat: man made chemical poisons. Organic farms don’t (or shuldn’t) use pesticides and all of the other unnatural toxins. When you ingest a conventionally grown apple, your also ingesting unknown and probably dangerous amounts of pesticides and god knows what else that it was grown with. Continued……………
